The Starting Point

February 15th 2021

If we don't start our journey, we will never reach our destination.

I am one of those who believe developers should have a blog or portfolio.
Having a portfolio shares your work, having a blog shares your thoughts.

Sometimes potential recruiters like to see both.

A lot of the work I do isn't in the public view, so besides making some personal projects to have something to show, I decided sharing my thoughts is a quickest route to get up and running.

That MVP that I talk about in my class.

Now I had a site, but back in early 2019, I took it down.
I felt it was dated, I truly believed a new version would be up within a month. Sometimes life just gets in the way of your plans.
I even mention in one of the videos I made for Codecademy that taking down my old site was a mistake.

As many of us do, when we feel something isn't a priority, we find ways to put it off. Eventually, I then told myself it would be up by the end of 2019.
Then I started working for Trilogy and that turned into another delay.

Then 2020 strikes. To be fair, I think 2020 as a whole, is a good excuse for anything that didn't go as plan.

Now 2021 rolls around and I have a few goals. I always believe we should have personal learning goals.
My learning focus for this year is Next.JS, TypeScript, and Python(Preparing for Master's in Data Science).

Next.JS is powering this blog.

Now about this blog. I have a lot of thoughts to share, topics from Edtech, work/life balance, and code.
Hopefully, those of you who stumble across my blog find these posts interesting.

Some of my other goals for 2021 include relaunching my youtube channel, starting a podcast that I also put off since 2019, and much more.

As always, thanks for reading.
